Here are the events happening at the park this fall:
SEPTEMBER
SEPT. 2 | 1-3 p.m.
Honey Extraction
The naturalists will be at Trails End shelter to demonstrate how beekeepers extract and bottle honey. Participants will get to try fresh, local honey!
SEPT. 9 | 1-3 p.m.
Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend
11 a.m.: Winged animal Conservation. Presentation by a local Girl Scout, who will share her gold award project.
1 p.m.: Scout fire tower climb
SEPT. 14 | Noon
Nature Lovers Lunch and Learn
Program: Jody Heaston, IMN State Coordinator, will share Fall Trail Tales. Located at the Lodge building.
SEPT. 16 | 10:30 a.m.
CCC Challenge hike
Meet at the bison enclosure for a 4-mile guided hike throughout the park, highlighting the park’s CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) history.
SEPT. 23 | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Free Fishing Day and Youth Fishing Derby
Celebrate free fishing day with a fun fishing derby for the kiddos. There will be prizes for the most catches in different age categories (with parental supervision). Meet at the boat house for sign up starting at 11. Derby is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prizes are awarded at 1:30 p.m.

FREE PARK ENTRY ALL DAY
SEPT. 30 | 1 p.m.
Fall Fungi hike
Meet at Trails End shelter to learn about mushrooms. Afterward, join the naturalist on a 1.5 mile hike to hunt for Fall mushrooms.
OCTOBER
OCT. 7 | 1 p.m.
Paws in the Park hike
This will enTAIL a Fall/ Halloween costume contest and a special hike for our four-legged friends. Meet at Lakeside shelter.
OCT. 12 | NOON
Nature Lovers Lunch and Learn
Program: Janet McGowen, interpreter for St. Joseph Parks, will give a talk on animals preparing for winter.
OCT. 14 and 21
Fall Festival weekend
Activities including campsite decorating contest, trick or treating and an apple cider press demonstration (Oct. 21).
Saturdays | 10 a.m.
Bison Feeding
Meet at the bison enclosure to learn about our national mammal and observe them being fed. Nov. 4 is the final feeding for the season.
