CCC ANNIVERSARY TO BE CELEBRATED
The Seven Dwarfs have found their way to the CCC Camp about five miles east of Bluffton and Snow White is expected soon.
Clever reproductions of the far-famed Walt Disney Characters have been painted in oil by Peter Gaitz, one of the camp enrollees, on the north wall of the mess hall where the 174 boys, camp officers, and members of the ECW staff eat and are certainly one of the features that visitors should not miss while attending the open house at the camp next Sunday, April 3, from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
The open house is being held in observance of the fifth anniversary of the camp, and the general public is cordially invited by Capt. R.A. Horn to attend and become better acquainted with the work being done there.
Guides will be furnished to direct visitors on a tour of the inspection though the camp. There will be an educational exhibit of work done by the boys as a part of their handicraft classes under the direction of O.D Kessler, educational advisor, and will include specimens of leathercraft and plaster moulding.
Visitors to the camp will find many improvements have been made in the past few months. Some work in the nature of landscaping the area around the camp has been completed and a great deal more is planned.
Perhaps one of the greatest improvements is the repainting of the interior of the recreation hall, carrying out a color scheme of blue and white. This change gives the hall superior rating in sector inspection and makes a cheerful background for the pool, ping pong tables. Checkers, roading, listening to the radio and “just talking” are other pastimes that many enjoy here.
